Hi there, I am Sue and here is my own story...

I'm a Christian. I've been a Nurse 30+ years.

And now I'm Caregiver for my Mom.

Hi there! I’m a nurse by trade, an Army Nurse Corps veteran, and a caregiver by calling. After over 30 years of serving as an RN in a variety of roles, life threw me a curveball—or maybe a dozen. It all started with a job loss about five years ago, which coincided with my mother’s dementia taking a sharp turn for the worse. It became clear that working outside the house wasn’t an option, so I began the adventure of working from home.

In addition to my nursing career, I’ve been an active member of the Rome Lions Club in New York, for the past eight years. Serving as the membership chair for several of those years has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Through this role, I’ve had the privilege of welcoming new members into a group dedicated to making a difference in our community.

Meanwhile, my home life has been anything but boring. My car gave up the ghost.  Appliances staged a mutiny one after another. Even two of my beloved dogs passed away unexpectedly. And as if all that weren’t enough, my mom’s condition continues to worsen—keeping things “interesting” with her ornery streak. (She could teach masterclasses in stubbornness.)

Adding to the fun, my sister lives several states away, and the rest of the family is scattered. Resources where we live are... let’s just say “underwhelming.” So, it’s been me, my mom, and our quirky little corner of the world.

Through prayer and reflection, I’ve been exploring flexible ways to generate income while caregiving full-time. That’s when I felt a tug on my heart—one I couldn’t ignore. With faith as my compass, my experience with the Lions Club as inspiration, and skills honed over decades, I decided to dive into creating faith-based books. My hope is to inspire others to join #TeamJesus while also supporting myself and my mom.

This journey has been equal parts challenging and rewarding, but through it all, I’m learning to lean on God’s grace, laugh through the chaos, and keep moving forward. Life may be unpredictable, but one thing’s for sure: I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

Jesus has been my rock over the last year.

When my dog Barney died in August of 2024 very unexpectedly, I was in a terrible situation financially so I couldn't afford to bring him to the Vet. I was overcome with grief, and I didn't know what to do, so I prayed. We have a small yard at our house and so I figured I'd bury him. But, the problem was when we moved here several years ago, all of my tools were stolen in the move. So I called a friend to see if I could borrow a shovel, and she said her husband would come and help me but they had to finish what they were doing first. Well, it took longer than I thought. I had brought him outside and wrapped him in some old towels awaiting my friend to show. Well, unfortunately, and unknown to me, my neighbor who lived behind me had brought out the kids and they found him. He came and knocked on our door and he told me what happened. I felt so terrible that the kids found him. I explained what had happened and of course began to get pretty teary. He understood, but had called the Police and Animal Control because he thought his Landlord had done something terrible (he has MAJOR Landlord issues as I learned). We cleared things up with them, and then since it was taking so long I asked by neighbor across the street if she had a shovel. She did and brought if over. My neighbor from behind us took over and buried my Barney for me. It was really nice of him and I thanked him profusely.

I had asked God what to do, and He delivered very quickly! While it was terribly sad, it was so nice to get Barney properly taken care of and so quickly with the help of some great neighbors and God's help!
